Ah, the one with the controversial name.
This little pouch came out of necessity. I am a person who likes to be prepared; back in the day when I was out and about at the office / doing the school run / living my best life, I would have little first aid bags stashed around the place.
Main one in the kitchen. Little one with plasters, painkillers, and antacids upstairs. Official one at work, where I was usually the first aider, and my personal one, with the stuff you’re not allowed to use in official first-aider capacity, like painkillers and antihistamines.
Then came a time where I needed to take medication daily. At the same time. With food.
I had no way of being sure where I’d be at that time – whether I’d be at home, or the office, or somewhere else entirely – and I didn’t want to rely on moving things around and remembering where they were. Nope, these meds needed to go where I go, and fit in a pocket if they had to.
So of course, like all my problems, I solved it with yarn.
A very simple construction – just a rectangle folded over and seamed at the sides, with a zip on top – gave a blank canvas to add the obvious medical designation. I’d always recognise it at the bottom of my bag, and if anything were to ever happen to me, so would anyone who came to my aid.
When I came back to this pattern to update it for republishing, I realised that I sometimes had need for a larger pouch to hold an “afterbite” pen, and that there were surely others who needed a larger version. So, Little Pharma and Big Pharma variations were born.
